A Team You Can Trust
Meet Our Team
David M. Metzgar CFP® CTFA
Senior Vice President, Senior Trust Officer
Dave leads the First County Advisors team with a philosophy that emphasizes personal service, informed decision-making and collaboration. “Dave has a client-driven approach that’s focused on my life, not on a sales agenda,” notes one client. It’s a foundation that Dave has cultivated in his more than 30 years at First County Bank providing expert investment management and customized estate planning.
In helping individuals, families, local businesses, nonprofits and religious organizations select the best financial solutions for investments, trusts and estates, “Dave is very much an expert, but also delivers a personal, human touch you don’t get from the big banks,” says another client.
In his fiduciary capacity, Dave establishes and administers trust accounts for a broad range of clients—overseeing the prudent investment of trust assets, handling distributions and tax filings, and consistently ensuring that his clients’ wishes and instructions are upheld.
“I listen to what people are saying and how they feel about everything from their goals to their hopes for their families to their concerns about market volatility, and I do whatever I can to put their concerns to rest,” Dave says. “We’re straightforward, honest and reliable. I want to be the first phone call people make when they want to talk and be heard.”
This commitment is one reason First County Advisors has grown to a level that Dave couldn’t have imagined when he helped establish the group in 1995 in response to an overwhelming need for wealth management services in the community.
With a continued steadfast focus on local clients, he and his team are proud to be trusted advisors to so many, and feel fortunate to be working at First County Bank. “It’s really simple. There is no underlying objective. Everything we do is in the client’s interest. No exceptions,” he explains.
Dave carries his no-nonsense approach to his volunteer work at the Exchange Club’s Parenting Skills and Child Abuse Prevention Center, which he has served for 30 years as a past president and active board member. “We’ve had an 88 percent success rate in breaking the cycle of abuse in families because we’re providing the help they need,” he says proudly. “It’s a relatively minor investment of my time that has long-term positive consequences.”
A graduate of the University of Connecticut, Fairfield University’s Center for Financial Studies, and Northwestern University’s National Graduate Trust Program, Dave and his wife have two grown children and live in Stamford. Whenever possible, he loves to enjoy 18 holes of golf at one of Fairfield County’s many courses.
